Our history

The milestones

Our success story
Since 1935, much has changed in working with magnets, particularly in terms of the availability of materials, manufacturing methods and application technologies.

WAGNER MAGNETE has played an important role in this context by developing innovative solutions for a wide range of applications since its foundation.

For example, WAGNER MAGNETE developed special clamping magnets for machining workpieces back in the 1940s under founder Georg Wagner, which are still used in numerous industries today. In addition, the first "capacitor-controlled" demagnetising systems were developed, which were pioneering at the time.

Electromagnets for use in automation technology followed in the 1950s , followed by heavy-duty magnets and overbelt magnetic separators for the recycling sector. Always with the aim of improving its products, Wagner Magnete expanded the magnetic recycling sector and launched the first non-ferrous separator on the market in the 1980s.

At the same time, Wagner KG bought the entire clamping technology division of its competitor Binder-Magnete. This brought new production areas and new jobs.

In addition to electro-magnetic clamping plates and chucks for the machine tool industry, further developments were made in the field of permanent magnets and high-precision electro-permanent clamping magnets were created. At the same time, developments in electrical engineering led to the so-called pole reversal control devices for the clamping magnets.

Through this continuous innovation work , WAGNER MAGNETE has contributed to expanding the application possibilities of magnets in numerous industries and improving their performance and reliability .

1935

it started
exciting.
When Georg Wagner founded the company in Heimertingen, Bavaria, in 1935
G.Wagner & Co. KG in Heimertingen, Bavaria, he set himself the goal of making his company a specialist in magnetic clamping. His expertise in this field was quickly recognised by numerous invention rights.

1946

Innovative
Pioneering achievement
We have been reliable pillars of the industry from the very beginning. Various swivel devices, combinations of clamping pole surfaces and capacitor-controlled demagnetisers revolutionised magnetic clamping technology.

1953

Important building blocks for today's
recycling process.
New product groups in the field of iron separation from bulk materials were added. Wagner built rotating magnetic drums and
-belt rollers with automatic iron release and, as early as 1953, the first over-belt magnetic separator.

1971

The second generation
Gerhard Wagner, son of company founder Georg Wagner, followed in his father's footsteps in 1971 and took over the management of the company in the second generation. With his commitment and vision, he successfully led the company into the future and made a significant contribution to the further development of WAGNER MAGNETE. Under his leadership, new technologies and production processes were introduced, making the company one of the leading manufacturers of magnet systems in Europe.

1985

Courageous and flexible
In 1985, Wagner KG took over and purchased the entire range of clamping technology from its former competitor Binder-Magnete. This enlarged new market position required an extensive expansion of the production facilities and brought with it new jobs.

1985

State-of-the-art technology
After Gerhard Wagner took over the management of the company in 1971, WAGNER focussed increasingly on the development of permanent magnets and their applications. In 1985, the company proudly presented the first functional non-ferrous separator at a trade fair, which represented a significant innovation on the market. This separator made it possible to efficiently remove non-ferrous metals from material flows and thus contributed to the optimisation of production processes in numerous branches of industry.

1992

ELECTRISING
In addition, electronics moved in with increasingly sophisticated control options for clamping and metal detection. This gave rise to a new generation of metal detectors characterised by high sensitivity, interference resistance and ease of use.

1995

The next level of demagnetisation technology
WAGNER MAGNETE sets new standards in demagnetisation technology with the development of the first automated tandem devices. These devices enable workpieces to be demagnetised quickly and efficiently without having to be repositioned manually. With this ground-breaking technology, WAGNER MAGNETE once again proves its leading position in magnet technology and enables its customers to achieve effective and time-saving demagnetisation.

2005

The special is standard
In a constantly changing market, you cannot rely on the successes of days gone by. In 2005, we can look back with pride on 70 years of company history.
During this time, the name WAGNER MAGNETE has come to epitomise quality, safety and reliability. For us, this is an obligation for the future to offer our customers the best possible solutions.

2008

Third generation takes the lead with new ideas
Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Wolfgang Wagner, the son of Gerhard Wagner, joined the company as the third generation. He brought with him a sound education in electrical engineering and many years of experience in the management of production companies. Since joining the company, he has taken WAGNER MAGNETE to a new level by introducing new technologies and innovations. Under his leadership, the company has expanded its product range and strengthened its global presence.

2010

Expansion of production and technical centre
WAGNER MAGNETE expanded its production of non-ferrous separators in 2010 and invested in a new technical centre at the same time. With the expansion of production, WAGNER was now able to react even more effectively and quickly to the increasing demand for non-ferrous separators. At the same time, the new technical centre enabled the company to expand its development and testing capacities and find innovative solutions for customer requirements.

2014

More performance and effectiveness
The development of rotors and balancing processes in-house has led to a significant milestone for WAGNER. Non-ferrous separators with a width of 3 metres and a maximum speed of 3000 rpm have been created, which represents a considerable increase in performance. The company has registered numerous patents in this field in recent years and is constantly endeavouring to find innovative solutions for customer requirements.

2019

Control system revolutionised
WAGNER MAGNETE has reached another milestone in the development of pole-reversal control units. The further development of the USG 756 with Performance Level D enables more effective and, above all, safer control of systems.
Through the use of innovative technologies and co-operation with customers, Wagner was able to raise the USG 756 to a new level and maintain its position as the leading supplier of pole-reversal control devices on the market.

2021

With a view to the environment

WAGNER MAGNETE sets an example for sustainability and environmental protection. With the commissioning of an approx. 510kW solar system, WAGNER is ensuring that a large part of the company's energy requirements are covered by renewable energy sources. The system produces environmentally friendly electricity and thus significantly reduces CO2 emissions. With this measure, Wagner is not only a pioneer in terms of sustainability, but also an example for other companies that want to fulfil their responsibility for the environment.

2023

Together into the future
Let's look to the future together and create a standard from innovative ideas. We look forward to hearing from you!
